Entrepreneur and educator Karen Tappin is one of the billion-dollar beauty industry's shining stars. As the founder and CEO of Karen's Body Beautiful, she transformed her natural hair and skin care line from a modest home-based business into a blossoming enterprise with robust Internet sales and mass-market distribution. Alarmed by the presence of carcinogenic ingredients in many conventional bath and body products, she researched the cosmetic and therapeutic properties of natural ingredients and developed recipes for a full hair, body and bath line made from all natural ingredients. Karenís products were immediately a hit Ė so successful that Karen's first store in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn opened three months later.
In February 2006, Karen's Body Beautiful moved to a larger store in Clinton Hill where she was able to expand her merchandise, in-store kitchen and open a full-service day spa. KBB became a popular Clinton Hill destination, until Karen closed the shop in the Fall of 2012 to open her factory for manufacturing and mass-market distribution in Target stores, Kroger Supermarket, Sallyís Beauty Supply, Rickyís, Bed, Bath & Beyond and independent beauty supply stores nationwide from 2013-2016. Currently her full product line is available at karensbodybeautiful.com.
